(Sailing of Particular Interest for the Career Enthusiast)
CAREER SAILING COURSE -
23 + 7 DAY COURSE
23 days aboard with Offshore Sailing Academy and STCW 95 at Unicorn Shipping (7 days). This is arranged and
booked through us.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Any young person who is reasonably fit. Sailing is one of the very few outdoor pursuits where men and women can cope equally. You don’t have to be physically strong. In addition - if you enjoy the outdoor environment, and enjoy meeting people - then you will be particularly suited. 80% of what we do is geared towards practical skills — so there is very little theory. Therefore, you don’t have to be a high academic achiever to get yourself a job. It is a healthy environment where you go places which you probably would never be able to see any other way, and you will certainly meet people that you never will be able to meet back packing etc. The job opportunities are endless and exciting.
By the way, 30% of our graduates are girls.
Jobs are not automatic but for the focused student with good attitude and determination to succeed – the world is your oyster.
Read on if you intend having a wonderful GAP year as a professional deck hand!!!
Chris and Libby – and Karen - have been involved in the charter industry for many years and are therefore very well placed to advise on job prospects in the Yacht Charter Industry and assist you through our “SPICE” fast track Career Training Programme to get you on board – either through our own organisation or other Companies in this field.
So – if sailing the Oceans in the most exotic locations on earth and being paid handsomely at the same time, is your dream – then please contact us immediately.
WE ARE HERE TO FIRSTLY GIVE YOU THE VERY BEST ADVICE, AND, DURING THE COURSE – EXPERT TUITION.
Don’t fall into the trap of paying for courses in the sailing industry that you may never need. Advanced courses come later.
YACHT CHARTER INDUSTRY WORLDWIDE JOB OPPORTUNITIES
The problem facing school leavers and graduates from tertiary education in South Africa is the almost total lack of job opportunities. The situation is even worse for non-academic achievers. So this course could change your life as it is predominantly geared to the practical – and this is where the emphasis lies during your time spent with us.
WORK OPPORTUNITIES
The Yacht Charter industry is a multi billion-dollar niche in world tourism — the biggest and fastest growth industry in the world. There are thousands of opportunities available:
The S.P.I.C.E. Career Course will prepare young people … both girls and guys in their early twenties (the younger the better), for work in the Charter Industry.
The Yachtmaster Course is aimed at the more mature student wanting to make a career in the sailing industry.
SALARIES
Salaries start in the region of about 1 500 US$ or Euros per month — tax free, with free accommodation and food on board. This rises quickly within two to three years to about $4000 or Euros per month. These salaries are often supplemented by gratuities.
WORK CENTRES
The main areas are the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. The seasons for the Caribbean are December to June — and the Mediterranean from April until October.
